The Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary founded the Miklós Nagy Award on the 150th anniversary of the history of the Library of the Hungarian Parliament. Every year, on 6 November, it is awarded to the person whose excellent professional work significantly fosters the library’s activity, the augmenting of its collection or its professional projects.
Miklós Nagy, one of the former directors of the Library of the Hungarian Parliament, was among the most outstanding library experts of the interwar period. Besides earning lasting credit in elevating the library into an institution of national importance, he also played a significant role in contributing to the Act of 1922 on Legal Deposits.
The first ceremony of bestowing the Miklós Nagy Award took place in 2018, on the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Library of the Hungarian Parliament, and since then, the recognition has been awarded every November to the person deemed worthy of receiving it.
